My First Shakshuka
Just a quick post today. It’s been a while, and I’ve been cooking a lot, but taking very few pictures. So I’m sharing a rather unimpressive one, but it made for a delicious meal! Hasn’t everyone been talking about shakshuka lately? I feel like it’s on every brunch menu and in every food magazine. That’s not a complaint. I only wish I’d known about it sooner because baked eggs smothered in spicy tomato sauce is something I can really be all about. Ina Garten’s Beans and Greens
I spent the better part of last year waiting anxiously for the release of Ina Garten’s new cookbook, Cooking for Jeffrey. When I found out it was going to be released ON THE ACTUAL DAY OF MY BIRTHDAY, it felt like I won the lottery. I have historically described Ina as some combination of my culinary soulmate and my spirit animal. Everything she makes is notorious for being done right and being easy to reproduce because of her great instructions. So far, I haven’t proven that theory wrong. My mom anticipated the fact that I would want need this book, and she heroically pre-ordered it for me from Amazon.com. (You too…

Bobby Flay’s Banana Bread
Mmmm….. I promise I do make other foods besides bread, but I’ll be damned if bread isn’t at the top of my favorites list. Every bread from toasted pita chips to chewy bagels, whole grain toast, muffins, potato rolls, King’s Hawaiian, garlic bread, ciabatta, croissants, crackers, pizza crust, and, of course, one of the world’s most beloved breads, the banana bread.
